What You’ll Do

• Manage cases confidently from first consult through diagnostics, treatment, and follow‑up care.
• Perform a wide range of medical and surgical procedures, including soft‑tissue surgery, emergency interventions, and dental work with radiography.
• Conduct imaging and diagnostics including blood analysis, ultrasound (A‑FAST, T‑FAST, EPIC), X‑ray, and laboratory tests.
• Oversee hospitalised patients, ensuring gold‑standard monitoring and welfare.
• Communicate clearly and compassionately with clients, supporting excellent patient outcomes.
• Collaborate with a highly skilled nursing team and visiting advanced practitioners across multiple disciplines.

What We Need From You (Competencies with Criteria)

Clinical Expertise
Criteria: RCVS-registered vet with proven experience managing cases independently across medicine, surgery, and emergency care. Comfortable performing procedures such as enterotomies, splenectomies, cystotomies, amputations, ophthalmic procedures, and dental surgeries with radiographic interpretation.

Client Communication
Criteria: Able to explain diagnoses, treatment options, estimates, and outcomes with empathy and clarity.

Team Collaboration
Criteria: Enjoys working within a supportive multidisciplinary team, contributing positively to case discussions and workflow.

Problem-Solving & Decision-Making
Criteria: Demonstrated ability to assess complex clinical situations and select evidence‑based solutions.

Adaptability & Continuous Learning
Criteria: Engaged in ongoing CPD, open to new technologies and techniques, and capable of working efficiently under pressure.

Additional Skills of Interest (Not Essential)

• Laparoscopy, arthroscopy, intra‑thoracic surgery, total hip replacement, intra‑ocular surgery
• Advanced ultrasound (adrenal, pancreas, GI, cardiac)
• Advanced ophthalmology
• Endoscopy (airway & GI)
• Major soft‑tissue surgeries (liver lobectomy, adrenalectomy, nephrectomy, GI stapling, perineal hernia repair etc.)
• Orthopaedics including TPLO, TTA, IM pinning, plating, luxation repair
• Echocardiography
• OV status (strongly preferred)

Hours & Facilities

The role is primarily daytime, with occasional out‑of‑hours cover during staff shortages or exceptional circumstances.

Work takes place across two purpose‑built sites in West London, equipped with:
• 2 theatres with positive‑pressure ventilation
• CT scanner
• DR digital radiography
• Rigid endoscopy, bronchoscopy & gastroscopy
• Two ultrasound units (portable + cart)
• Large patient hub plus separate dog & cat wards
• Full surgical instrumentation including AO kits, electrosurgery & Hall drill
• Multiple consult rooms and dedicated recovery spaces
