As we continue to grow, we’re now looking to welcome an experienced Vehicle Paint Preparation Technician to our team in Basildon.
Role Overview – Vehicle Paint Preparation Technician
As a Vehicle Paint Technician at ABL 1 Touch Basildon, you’ll ensure vehicles are repaired and refinished to manufacturer standards using the latest painting techniques, materials, and technology.
You’ll work with a variety of paint systems, including:
Waterborne basecoats – modern, eco-friendly finishes
Solvent-based topcoats – durable, high-gloss coatings
Primers, sealers, and fillers – epoxy primers and surfacers for optimal finish
Specialist coatings – metallics, pearls, composites, and clear coats
Key Responsibilities
* Prepare vehicles for painting – masking, sanding, and surface preparation
* Mix paints accurately using computerized scales and paint systems
* Apply primers, basecoats, and topcoats to manufacturer standards
* Operate spray booths and drying equipment for flawless finishes
* Repair and refinish composite, aluminium, and bonded panels
* Maintain a clean, safe, and well-organised workspace
* Carry out quality checks to ensure every vehicle meets ABL 1 Touch’s standards
Skills & Experience Required
* Proven Bodyshop repair experience
* Motor manufacturer paint qualifications
* NVQ Level 3 in Paint & Bodywork (or equivalent)
* Strong knowledge of waterborne technology and modern coating systems
* Experience with composite and aluminium repairs
* Proficient in bonding, sealer, and filler applications
* Full UK driving licence
* A proactive team player with flexibility and a can-do attitude
