Job Responsibilities

Oversee the safe, compliant, and efficient operation of transport and yard activities at the Perth site.
Lead a team comprising six drivers, yard operatives, and a Team Leader, providing clear operational direction and support.
Ensure all transport activities adhere to legal and regulatory requirements, including transport legislation and site-based compliance standards.
Manage yard operations, including traffic management, stock control, and material handling, to optimise workflow and productivity.
Maintain high standards of site discipline, housekeeping, and vehicle compliance to promote a safe working environment.
Implement and monitor health, safety, and environmental policies, fostering a safety-first culture across all operations.
Drive operational performance improvements through continuous review and process optimisation.
Handle performance management, conduct issues, and staff development to build a motivated and accountable team.
Coordinate with other departments to ensure seamless operations and customer satisfaction.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Proven experience in transport, yard, or operational management within waste, recycling, logistics, or heavy industry sectors.
Strong understanding of transport legislation, compliance standards, and site-based operational procedures.
Full UK driving licence is essential.
Transport Manager CPC qualification is highly desirable.
IOSH Managing Safety or equivalent health and safety certification is desirable.
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple operational tasks effectively.
Confident leadership and people management skills, with experience handling performance and conduct matters.
Strong communication skills, capable of engaging with operational teams and senior management alike.
Practical knowledge of traffic management, vehicle compliance, and material handling processes.
Calm, professional, and solutions-focused approach to problem-solving.
