Lloyd Recruitment Services is delighted to be working with a well-established distribution business in the outskirts of Crawley, who are looking to hire a Transport Planner to join their operations team.

You will play a pivotal role in coordinating daily driver and logistics operations, ensuring smooth workflows and maximising fleet efficiency.

As the Transport Planner, you will be responsible for coordinating and scheduling daily deliveries to ensure customer orders are completed in a timely manner. You'll be integral to the smooth running of the transport function, balancing operational efficiency with excellent communication and service standards.

Key Duties of the Transport Planner:

Planning and scheduling daily delivery routes in line with customer commitments and operational capacity
Ensuring compliance with transport legislation, including drivers' hours and vehicle weight limits
Maximising fleet efficiency through effective route planning and fuel optimisation
Acting as the main point of contact for delivery-related queries and issue resolution
Liaising with sales, yard, and driver teams to ensure smooth delivery execution
Preparing driver manifests, delivery documentation, and monitoring transport KPIs
Supporting drivers and contributing to cost control and performance improvement initiatives

Essential Experience & Skills:

Previous experience in transport or logistics planning
Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail
Confident communication skills with a customer-focused approach
Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office
Ability to manage changing priorities in a fast-paced environment
Calm, proactive, and self-motivated with a strong commitment to safety and compliance
Flexible, team-oriented mindset focused on continuous improvement
Full driving licence and access to a vehicle (essential)

Desirable

Working knowledge of transport legislation (drivers' hours, Working Time Directive, vehicle weights)
