Job Description:
As a Transport Planner, you'll play a key role in the day-to-day coordination and planning of our national fleet. You'll be responsible for creating efficient, compliant, and cost-effective routes across our chilled and frozen operations — ensuring deliveries run smoothly and customers receive the high standards we're known for.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan and optimise daily vehicle routes across the UK for vans and HGVs.
Balance driver hours, vehicle capacities, and legal compliance with operational efficiency.
Liaise with drivers and customers to ensure reliable, on-time deliveries.
Monitor fleet activity using the Transport Management System (TMS) and GPS tools.
Adjust plans dynamically to accommodate changes, delays, or new consignments.
Collaborate with operations, HR, and management teams to maintain staffing levels and vehicle availability.
Schedule vehicle maintenance and driver training days to ensure compliance and safety.
Support continuous improvement through data analysis and performance reporting.
About You
You'll be a confident communicator and proactive problem-solver, with a knack for planning, precision, and keeping operations running smoothly — even under pressure.
What You'll Bring:
Proven experience in
transport or route planning
within logistics, distribution, or haulage.
Strong understanding of
UK & EU driving laws , tachograph rules, and vehicle capabilities.
Knowledge of
dual-compartment temperature-controlled vehicles
is highly desirable.
Excellent
geographical knowledge of the UK .
Proficiency with
TMS software and GPS tracking systems .
A logical, analytical approach to problem-solving.
Ability to thrive in a
fast-paced, time-critical
environment.
Qualifications:
Full UK Driving Licence ( essential)
HGV Licence / Driver CPC ( advantageous )
Management CPC ( desirable )
Working hours & Company benefits:
Hours: Week 1 – Monday - Friday (11:00–20:00) / Week 2 – Monday - Friday (10:00–19:00) / Week 3 – Monday – Thursday (0800-1700)
Competitive salary (£32,000 – £35,000, DOE)
