This is where theory meets action. You wont just code youll create, test and deploy solutions that millions rely on every day. Youll focus on engineering, development, and deployment the practical build of the solutions that bring ideas to life.

Placement Scheme.

One year. Real impact

Aligned to one platform (like Cloud Services or Digital Banking) for the period of your placement, youll have the opportunity to join feature teams to have first-hand experience of the software development life cycle.

You may obtain experience in:

• Software Engineering coding in Java, Python, C#, JavaScript, Kotlin, Swift.
• DevOps building pipelines and automating releases.
• Quality Assurance testing, refining and improving customer journeys.

This isnt work experience. This is work that matters - from improving mobile banking journeys to strengthening customer security and delivering value to millions every day.

What your work could look like

• Building new app features.
• Automating processes to save thousands of hours.
• Engineering the cloud infrastructure that keeps us running.
• Stress-testing customer journeys.
• Collaborating on solutions that make banking safer and simpler.

The skills youll master

By the end of the scheme, youll be on your way to being:

• Engineering-ready skilled in coding, testing, and delivering at pace.
• Agile-minded comfortable working in sprints, squads and labs.
• Customer-focused building tech that meets real needs.
• Collaboration-driven experienced in cross-functional teamwork.

Along the way, you may have the opportunity to take part in hackathons (sponsored by the likes of Google and Microsoft), showcase your skills at awards, and even help shape the future of the scheme itself through feedback and innovation challenges.

Requirements

What you need to apply

• Be in your penultimate year at university.
• While we do not require a set minimum projected degree achievement, we strongly recommend the ability to be able to demonstrate sound knowledge, understanding and technical skills aligned to the role. Some aspects of this will be assessed through the application process.
• Knowledge of at least one modern programming language or framework.
• A genuine passion for technology and the drive to keep learning.
• We are unable to offer sponsorship for this programme and you must have full, unlimited right to work in the UK.

Locations:Bristol, Edinburgh, Leeds and Manchester. With our hybrid working policy, all colleagues spend at least two days a week in the office.

Opening and Closing date

Applications for the Technology Engineering Industrial Placement Scheme will open on 24th September 2025.

Our industrial placement schemes may close early if we receive a high number of applications, so its best to apply as soon as possible.
