Job Description

Technical Director – Residential Developer – West Midlands

Our client is a well-established and growing residential developer delivering high-quality housing schemes across the Midlands and South East. Due to continued growth and a strong land pipeline, they are looking to appoint an experienced Technical Director to lead their technical function and support the delivery of multiple residential developments.

This is a strategic leadership role responsible for managing the technical department, ensuring efficient design management, regulatory compliance, and supporting the business from land acquisition through to project completion.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the technical team including engineers, architects, and consultants

• Oversee design from land appraisal through planning, technical approval and construction stages

• Support land acquisitions through technical due diligence and viability input

• Manage external consultants and ensure performance against programme and budget

• Ensure compliance with building regulations, planning conditions and statutory approvals

• Drive value engineering and cost-effective design solutions

• Work closely with construction, commercial and land teams to ensure smooth project delivery

• Manage technical risks and resolve complex design issues

• Contribute to business strategy as part of the senior leadership team

Requirements

• Proven experience in a senior technical leadership role within a residential developer or housebuilder

• Strong understanding of residential construction, engineering, and design standards

• Experience managing multiple projects and technical teams

• Strong knowledge of UK planning process and building regulations

• Commercial awareness and experience supporting land acquisition

• Excellent leadership and stakeholder management skills

• Relevant qualification in Engineering, Architecture, Construction or similar ()

Package

• £120,000 - £140,000 base salary

• Annual bonus

• Car allowance or company car
