Teacher – Science (SEND Secondary)

Surrey area

Full-time | Permanent

40 hours per week (8:15am start; early finish Fridays)

£39,398 – £54,913 (M1 – UPS1 Fringe)


Key Health is supporting a specialist education provider who cater to secondary setting for young people aged 11–16 with Autism and associated social, emotional and sensory needs. The school offers small classes, personalised learning and strong multi-disciplinary support.

We are now seeking a dedicated Science Teacher to join the school, shaping the Science curriculum and contributing to a positive, inclusive and supportive learning environment from day one.


Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality Science teaching up to GCSE level
  • Adapt lessons and curriculum content to meet the needs of SEND learners
  • Set, monitor and review personalised learning targets
  • Assess, track and report pupil progress to colleagues, parents and relevant bodies
  • Plan structured, engaging lessons that maintain motivation and challenge
  • Contribute to EHCP reviews, PEPs and LAC meetings
  • Manage behaviour using a calm, supportive and restorative approach
  • Maintain an up-to-date understanding of Autism and associated needs
  • Work collaboratively with the school’s multi-disciplinary team
  • Support wider school activities and responsibilities as part of a growing provision


Essential Requirements

  • PGCE, QTS or equivalent teaching qualification
  • Ability to teach Science up to GCSE
  • Strong knowledge of the national curriculum
  • Experience supporting students with complex needs and SEND
  • Understanding of Autism, ADHD and co-occurring conditions
  • Ability to differentiate planning and teaching for diverse needs
  • Confident behaviour management aligned with a child-centred approach


Desirable (Not Essential)

  • Prior experience within a specialist or alternative provision environment
  • Understanding of sensory processing needs
  • Experience contributing to EHCP reviews
  • Knowledge of SEMH strategies and emotional-regulation techniques
