Join our Tax Team at L&Q:
An opportunity has arisen in the Tax Team for a Tax Analyst whilst the existing team member is on secondment.
L&Q's in-house Tax Team has responsibility for the tax affairs of the L&Q Group and ensures that the Group's tax strategy is aligned with its charitable purpose and commercial objectives.
In addition to preparing and filing the L&Q Group's corporation tax returns, VAT returns and other tax related filings with HM Revenue & Customs, the Tax Team also provides tax advice and support to the business on a wide range of matters.
Reporting to the Tax Manager, you will provide support to the Head of Tax, Tax Manager and Tax Accountant in relation to the tax affairs of the L&Q Group.

Your impact in the role:
Day-to-day responsibilities will be primarily focussed on detailed analysis of the tax accounting entries required for the purposes of preparing the monthly/quarterly VAT Returns for review by the Tax Manager/Tax Accountant prior to submission to HMRC in line with set reporting timescales, and will include:
Reviewing tax accounting entries to ensure the VAT recovery matches the VAT returns including monthly and quarterly VAT reconciliations to the general ledgers.
Documenting, analysing and reporting VAT exceptions and errors for resolution.
Processing requests from departments for new accounts and ensuring that these are set up correctly with regards to the Tax Value Matrix in the ERP system.
Supporting the implementation of the new ERP system and the embedding of new tax processes in respect of the Group's VAT reporting.
Assisting with further developments of the Group's financial information systems for VAT recovery purposes working collaboratively with colleagues across the business as required.
Responding to general tax queries from colleagues on a timely basis with input from the Tax Manager/Tax Accountant as appropriate.
What you'll bring:
We are looking for strong interpersonal and organisational skills. You will need to be flexible and adaptable to change and able to work to tight deadlines.
The ideal candidate will bring the following skills and experience:
Strong knowledge of VAT principles, including partial exemption, as well as practical experience of preparing VAT returns and reconciliations.
Experience of using Unit4 ERP system is highly desirable.
Excellent numerical and analytical skills.
MS Office skills including advanced knowledge of Excel.
Ability to analyse large volumes of data with accuracy and attention to detail.
Confident communicator at all levels.
Self-motivated and able to work independently with strong time management skills and the ability to prioritise work.
