Systems Engineer - Airborne Launcher Systems\n\nLocation: Stevenage\n Rate: £70 per hour (UMB)\n Contract: 6 months, with strong potential to extend\n Security: SC required to start | UK Eyes Only\n Work pattern: 2-3 days on site each week, with remote flexibility. Compressed hours available.\n\nWe're supporting a leading defence organisation as they look for an experienced Functional Systems Engineer to join their team. This role focuses on the functional behaviour of an airborne launcher system, sitting at the heart of a complex air-launched weapons programme.\n\nYou'll take high-level system requirements and turn them into detailed, testable behaviour for the launcher.

You'll work closely with design, software and certification teams to make sure the system behaves exactly as it should and that the evidence generated stands up to scrutiny.\n\nWhat you'll be doing\n\nAnalysing system-level documentation and developing clear sub-system functional behaviour.\n\nReviewing technical evidence and producing certification statements.\n\nWorking with stakeholders across engineering teams to review design artefacts and resolve queries.\n\nSupporting the closure of non-compliances and helping teams understand requirements.\n\nManaging and organising information through DOORS and standard office tools.\n\nWhat you'll need\n\nEssential\n\nStrong background in Systems Engineering.\n\nPractical experience using IBM DOORS.\n\nConfident with requirements elicitation and verification.\n\nAbility to review evidence and assess whether it meets requirements.\n\nQuick to absorb complex technical information.\n\nSolid experience with MS Office toolsets.\n\nDesirable\n\nExperience with IBM Rhapsody or IBM Engineering Workflow Management.\n\nBackground working on air-launched weapons or similar defence systems.\n\nExperience with software-heavy equipment or software-integrated systems.\n\nWhy this role?\n\nYou'll be joining a trusted defence organisation on a programme with long-term visibility and strong prospects for extension.
