About the Role

Support Worker
Part time – 24 hours per week
£12.85 per hour
Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire, HP2

Full UK driving licence with access to own car essential.

We’re looking for a Support Worker to join our team in Hemel Hempstead, supporting a highly motivated and community minded young man who lives independently in his own home. He is an inspiring individual, an avid marathon runner, dedicated volunteer and proud recipient of Volunteer of the Year.

This year, he is taking on the London Marathon in aid of Dimensions’ 50 Years Small Sparks Fund, raising money to help make small moments of joy possible for people we support. His determination and commitment to giving back are just two of the many things that make him a pleasure to support.

He thrives on staying active. He enjoys running with his local club, getting creative with woodcraft projects in his shed, cooking along with live sessions, taking long walks with his dog and spending time with his family. He’s looking for someone who will share his enthusiasm, champion his independence, and support him to stay organised with day-to-day routines such as taking vitamins, checking medication and planning his week.

You’ll work a blend of daytime shifts (9am–5pm) and evening shifts with sleep-ins (5pm–10pm plus sleep-in until he leaves for work around 8–9am). Shifts include every other weekend. Because driving is essential to his active lifestyle, you’ll need your own vehicle and be comfortable using it for work (mileage reimbursed).

About You

You’ll share our values of Ambition, Courage, Integrity, Partnership and Respect, and bring a positive, proactive and person-centred approach to everything you do. You don’t need previous experience – what matters is your enthusiasm, reliability and passion for supporting someone to live life to the fullest.

You’ll be confident building routines, supporting independence and communicating. Above all, you’ll be someone who brings encouragement, motivation and joy into everyday moments.
