Be the person who helps students take the next step in their future
At Bournemouth & Poole College, we know that finances can be one of the barriers to education—and that's where you come in. As our Student Finance Advisor, you'll help students access support through a range of bursaries and options, ensuring they have individualised help to succeed.
What you'll be doing
In this varied and rewarding role, you will:
Support Students & Families
Provide clear, personalised advice on bursaries, grants, loans and funding concessions.
Help students—and sometimes parents/carers—navigate the application process with confidence.
Manage & Assess Bursary Applications
Complete initial financial assessments and verify documentation.
Ensure support funds are awarded fairly, efficiently and in line with College and DfE guidance.
Coordinate Payments & Reporting
Work alongside the SEND Manager and Finance Team to ensure timely, accurate payments.
Maintain detailed records and prepare financial summaries, monitoring spends against budget.
Assist with internal and external audits to support compliance.
Collaborate Across the College
Work with Admissions, Curriculum and Wellbeing teams to ensure students receive the right information at the right time.
Liaise with external partners—such as Morebus, South West Rail and the Dorset Community Fund—to keep our students supported and informed.
Drive Continuous Improvement
Help shape and refine bursary processes based on student feedback.
Contribute to a high-quality, student-centred financial support service.
What we're looking for
You'll ideally bring:
Level 2 (or equivalent) English and Maths
Experience in a finance-related and customer-focused role
Strong administrative and organisational skills
Confidence using Microsoft Office, especially Excel
The ability to solve problems within statutory and regulatory guidance
A calm, compassionate approach—even in a busy environment
