Job Description
Professional Standards Manager – 6 Month Fixed Term Contract
Hybrid, London - City
Full time, Fixed Term
Salary: £58,000-62,000 per annum (pro-rata)
Our mission
The overarching purpose of the Chartered Insurance Institute (‘the Institute’) is to educate and support our members to deliver services to the highest professional standards and to advocate for the public good. By doing this the Institute builds and maintains public trust in the insurance, financial planning, and mortgage advice professions.
Our vision
Our vision is that CII and PFS professionals build a world which delivers ever greater financial resilience for individuals and societies more broadly.
Your role
This role sits within the Professional Standards department and contributes directly to the CII’s mission to uphold and advance professionalism across the insurance and financial planning sectors. Working closely with senior leadership and cross-functional teams, you’ll help shape the standards that define ethical and professional conduct for individuals and firms.
You will lead the development and delivery of the CII’s professional standards framework, including the Code of Ethics, CPD audit, and Corporate Chartered standards. Working closely with colleagues and external partners, you’ll ensure these standards remain relevant, robust, and aligned with regulatory expectations.
Your work will span policy development, stakeholder engagement, and project delivery — from managing ethics content and benchmarking exercises to overseeing strategic reviews and reporting to senior governance bodies. You’ll also support the evolution of ethical training and contribute to shaping the future of professionalism across the sector.
You
- You bring a thoughtful, structured approach to shaping professional and ethical standards.
- You’re confident navigating complex projects and can move between strategy, policy, and delivery with ease.
- You understand how regulatory frameworks, codes of ethics, and CPD requirements translate into practical standards.
- You’re comfortable interpreting benchmarking data and using it to inform content and policy decisions.
- You build trust quickly and work well with a wide range of stakeholders, including senior leaders and external bodies.
- You stay curious about developments in professionalism and are motivated by the impact of your work.
Your benefits
In addition to a market-benchmarked base salary, here are some of the benefits you can expect from CII as a valued colleague:
- 10% non-contributory pension
- 30 days annual leave + bank holidays (pro rata)
- Healthcare cash plan
- Life assurance
- Modern office space located in 20 Fenchurch Street (Walkie-Talkie) with free Sky Garden access and discounts
