JOB BAND: D CONTRACT TYPE: Permanent, Part-time (Wednesday to Friday- 21hrs per week) DEPARTMENT: BBC Nations, BBC Southwest Online LOCATION: Plymouth - office PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: £44,000 - £53,000 pro rata depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. BBC South West Online is looking for a talented and dynamic Social Lead to drive our social operation across Devon, Cornwall, the Isles of Scilly and the Channel Islands. Creativity sits at the heart of our social storytelling. You will lead a team delivering distinctive stories from across the region on our social platforms in ways that engage and grow our audiences. You will recognise how to tailor stories to reach a range of different audiences, while identifying content that can also make an impact on broadcast outlets. You will also bring strong planning and organisational skills, with the ability to motivate, inspire and support your team and colleagues. You will be a key member of the leadership team, working collaboratively with other leaders. YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT: The right candidate will have strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead and develop a team and get the best from them. You will be able to drive and shape our social operation, delivering content that connects with and reaches as much of the audience as possible. You will have a strong understanding of journalism law and the importance of adhering to the BBC's Editorial Guidelines. You will generate ideas for compelling social content and know how to tell stories in clear, engaging ways for our audiences. You will care deeply about reaching and engaging a truly diverse audience to ensure the ongoing relevance of the BBC. You will be confident in understanding what audiences want from our social platforms. YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE ESSENTIAL CRITERIA: A proven track record of leading social teams, with strong people management and editorial leadership; Experience of shaping the social news agenda and working collaboratively across the newsroom to deliver impact; An ability to tailor stories for different platforms, demographics and digital audiences; Experience of writing, editing and publishing social content in a fast paced daily news environment; A clear commitment to diversity and inclusivity across both team leadership and social output.
