Special Needs Teaching Assistant - Pimlico (Start September) Supporting a Year 1 Child with Non-Verbal Autism

We are seeking a compassionate, patient, and dedicated Special Needs Teaching Assistant to join a warm and inclusive primary school in Pimlico, starting in September 2025.

This is a rewarding opportunity to provide 1:1 support to a Year 1 pupil with non-verbal autism, helping them access the curriculum, develop communication and social skills, and thrive in the school environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide tailored support throughout the school day in a nurturing and structured manner.

Use visual aids, alternative communication methods (such as PECS or Makaton), and sensory strategies.

Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and external professionals to deliver an individualised plan.

Foster a positive, calm, and safe learning atmosphere.

The ideal candidate will have:

Experience working with children with autism, particularly non-verbal.

A calm, empathetic, and proactive approach.

Knowledge of SEN strategies and a passion for inclusive education.

Experience with PECS, Makaton, or similar communication tools is highly desirable.
