Role Overview We are seeking a skilled and experienced Sous Chef to join Calo Kitchen team in the UK. In this role, you will work closely with both the Kitchen Manager and Head Chef to ensure seamless daily operations, uphold food quality standards, lead and develop the kitchen team, contribute to menu preparation, process optimisation, and manage ordering and stocking of ingredients, supplies, and kitchen inventory. The ideal candidate will bring both culinary expertise and strong leadership, playing a pivotal role in maintaining excellence across the kitchen and ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction. Main Responsibilities Oversee and ensure the kitchen operates efficiently, safely, and meets high quality standards
Support the Kitchen Manager and Head Chef in food preparation planning, execution, and supervision
Take charge of a designated section or supervise an entire shift within kitchen operations
Manage, train, and support kitchen staff across various sections
Schedule shifts, delegate responsibilities, and assess team performance
Clearly communicate daily tasks and goals to the team
Monitor inventory, manage ordering, and control kitchen costs
Enforce sanitation and health & safety regulations in compliance with UK standards
Maintain a positive and professional approach with colleagues and team members
Contribute to plating design and ensure dishes meet visual and taste standards
Assist in implementing best practices for kitchen workflow and production processes
Ideal Candidate Qualifications 8+ years of experience in the hospitality, catering, or food production industry
Proven experience as a Senior Sous Chef or Sous Chef in a high-volume or production-based kitchen
Previous experience in a food manufacturing or central kitchen facility is a strong plus
Strong command of English with excellent communication skills
Currently based in the UK and able to reliably commute or relocate to NW10 7PR (London)
Knowledge and Competency Demonstrated experience in managing kitchen teams and operations
Strong understanding of kitchen sections and production flows
Ability to lead by example, divide responsibilities, and track performance
Familiar with food safety standards and HACCP procedures
Up-to-date with culinary trends, dietary preferences, and process optimization
Proficient in kitchen software systems and Microsoft Office Suite and/or Google Workplace
Personality A strong and clear communicator with a pleasant and professional demeanor
