Kestrel HR is delighted to be working again with Graysons Restaurants. Graysons is one of the leading contract catering businesses in the UK, and counts high quality offices, public spaces and some world class visitor attractions among its clients. The globally renowned British Library, just next door to London Kings Cross station is one of them, and today, we are looking to welcome an experienced Sous Chef to the team. The Library has three public restaurants/cafes, a staff restaurant, and delivers a host of public and private events throughout the year for up to 300 people. Our Sous Chef will help deliver a food experience to match our environment, and you'll be a key member of the leadership team. You'll help design menus, workflows, and you'll be responsible for maintaining a level of excellence in all areas, food quality, health and safety, and financial performance. You'll work 40 hours a week, Monday - Friday, with a Saturday shift once every three weeks on a rolling rota. There is some evening work when events occur, but the hours are are significantly more family friendly than mainstream hospitality. Any overtime hours are either taken as time elsewhere, or paid in addition to your base salary. The role pays £40,000, and we provide a host of additional benefits including life insurance, family friendly leave policies, annual health checks and a host of wellbeing discounts and tools to support you and your family. Essential Skills & Experience: Proven experience as a Sous Chef or Senior Chef de Partie in events, hospitality, and retail. Strong knowledge of food safety and kitchen operations. Ability to manage high-volume service and fast-paced environments. Excellent communication and leadership skills. Desirable Attributes: Experience in multi-site or mobile catering operations. Passion for food innovation and sustainability. Familiarity with EPOS systems and kitchen management software. Qualifications: NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Professional Cookery (or equivalent). Level 2 Food Safety & Hygiene Certificate (minimum) First Aid at Work (or prepared to attend and complete) Due to the location, a Basic DBS clearance will be required for this role, which the Company will arrange and pay for.
