About Cafe Linea Cafe Linea is a neighbourhood restaurant, bar and bakery set within an iconic 19th-century arcade on Duke of York Square. Inspired by European arcade cafes and bistros, we serve relaxed, produce-led menus from breakfast through to dinner and all those moments in between. Alongside la carte dining, we offer pastries and patisserie from our on-site bakery, seasonal bouquets from our flower counter, and aperitifs on the terrace. Linea is a place for morning coffee, long lunches, late-afternoon glasses of wine, and candle-lit dinners. The Role Were looking for an experienced Sous Chef to join our kitchen leadership team and act as second-in-command to the Head Chef. This is a hands-on, service-focused role, primarily based in the main kitchen, with a strong emphasis on communication and coordination across the wider food operation including close collaboration with our pastry team. Youll play a key role in maintaining quality, flow and consistency across services, while supporting the Head Chef with ordering, stock control and day-to-day leadership.
Key Responsibilities Act as second-in-line to the Head Chef, supporting leadership across the kitchen
Be present and hands-on during service in a busy, high-volume service kitchen
Communicate clearly and effectively with the pastry team to ensure smooth coordination between sections
Maintain quality, consistency and presentation across all dishes
Place orders and support stock control and stocktakes
Assist the Head Chef with systems and kitchen administration (e.g. Marketman or similar)
Uphold excellent food safety, hygiene and HACCP standards at all times
Support rota planning and day-to-day team organisation
Help train, guide and develop junior members of the kitchen team
About You At least 1 years experience as a Sous Chef in a quality-led, high-volume kitchen
Confident running service and supporting a kitchen team under pressure
Organised, calm and communicative especially across different sections
Comfortable with ordering, stock control and digital systems (Marketman experience is a plus)
Strong understanding of food safety, hygiene and kitchen compliance
Pastry experience or knowledge is beneficial, though not essential
Someone who values structure, clear standards and a well-run kitchen
