Job Description

We are currently seeking an experienced Site Manager to support the delivery of a major grid and HVDC infrastructure project based in Murton, County Durham. This role will take full responsibility for on-site construction delivery, stakeholder coordination, and safety-led execution from project start through to completion.

Your role will include:
  • Acting as the primary on-site focal point with the end-client and consortium partners
  • Leading and managing construction activities from inception to completion, ensuring alignment with programme, budget and quality requirements
  • Overseeing all site operations, including site preparation, equipment installation, and supporting infrastructure works
  • Providing technical guidance and leadership throughout the construction phase, ensuring compliance with all relevant standards, regulations and codes
  • Managing contractors, subcontractors and suppliers, supervising works and ensuring adherence to specifications
  • Implementing quality control processes and carrying out inspections to maintain high construction standards
  • Proactively identifying risks and resolving issues efficiently to minimise disruption
  • Coordinating effectively with engineers, designers, consultants and local authorities
  • Enforcing strict health, safety and environmental standards and embedding a safety-first culture on site
  • Maintaining accurate site records, progress reporting and documentation for all project stakeholders

What you bring to the role:
  • 10+ years experience managing large-scale industrial or energy infrastructure construction projects
  • Degree-qualified in Electrical, Mechanical or Civil Engineering
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Office (experience with project management software is advantageous)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Project Management certification is desirable
  • Proven leadership, organisational and decision-making capability
