Pay: Up to £300 per day (dependent on experience) Role Summary We are seeking a highly experienced Site Manager with an engineering background to lead and deliver a major refurbishment project in Sheffield. You will take full accountability for on-site delivery, ensuring work is executed safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards. This is a high-profile role with a reputable subcontractor working alongside a national contractor on a technically demanding refurbishment scheme. Key Responsibilities Lead, plan, organise and coordinate daily site operations t o meet programme targets on a large refurbishment project.
Supervise and direct subcontractors, direct labour and multiple trades to maintain high standards of workmanship and productivity.
Ensure rigorous enforcement of health & safety protocols; conduct inductions, toolbox talks and compliance checks.
Drive quality assurance and quality control across all areas of the refurbishment works, including snagging and handover.
Maintain accurate site documentation including site diaries, RAMS, inspection records and progress reports.
Liaise effectively with clients, consultants, designers, project management and commercial teams.
Manage site logistics, welfare, materials delivery and plant to optimise workflow and minimise delay.
Anticipate, identify and resolve site issues proactively to keep the project on track.
Essential Qualifications & Experience Proven experience as a Site Manager on large-scale refurbishment schemes, ideally with complex technical elements and engineering scope.
Degree in Construction Engineering, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a relevant engineering discipline.
Valid CSCS card (manager / academically qualified).
SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme) qualification.
First Aid at Work certificate.
Excellent leadership, communication, planning, problem-solving and organisational skills.
Strong ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications and construction programmes.
Proficiency in site reporting and use of digital tools for documentation and communication.
Full UK driving licence.
