Shop Manager – Sue Ryder Charity shop, 1-3 Canongate, Jedburgh TD8 6AP. 37.5 hours per week over 7 days. £12.80 per hour plus rewards and benefits. Overview Sue Ryder is one of the largest charity retailers in the UK, operating more than 400 shops. Each sale provides funding to deliver over 2.7 million hours of medical, practical, bereavement and emotional support each year to people around the world. The Jedburgh shop is a long-standing part of the community, offering a range of clothing and items to all budgets. About you Are you an experienced proactive shop manager with strong retail skills? We are looking for someone who can lead a volunteer team, drive sales, and engage the local community to generate donated stock. Key Responsibilities
Use retail experience to drive business, push sales and achieve targets. Lead the team to deliver excellent customer service to donors and customers. Work with the local community to secure sufficient donated stock. Recruit, train and retain a volunteer team, providing leadership and guidance. Set high merchandising and housekeeping standards, prioritising health and safety. Manage effective stock processes, ensuring the shop is well merchandised with fresh seasonal stock at all times. Act as a brand ambassador for Sue Ryder, supporting in‑store campaigns and national fundraising initiatives. Manage stock processes via the Epos system.
Minimum Essential Criteria
Customer service experience. People‑management experience (reviews, 1:1s, volunteer recruitment, team meetings). Experience with KPI and target setting. Strong IT skills (administration, e‑mail, instant messaging, video calls). Organisational skills. Lone‑working experience.
Desirable Criteria
High‑street or charity retail managerial experience. Health and safety knowledge. Basic Microsoft Office competency. Background in high‑street retail, leisure or hospitality. Experience with merchandising and stock rotation.
