Senior / Principal Civil Engineer

Bristol / Cardiff / Bridgend

£45,000 – £55,000 + bonus (DOE)

We are working in partnership with a well-known, fast growing and successful civil and structural engineering consultancy with a strong presence across the Southwest and South Wales. Operating from multiple regional offices, the consultancy is known for delivering practical, commercially informed engineering solutions to a diverse client base on projects throughout the UK.

The business has built its reputation on technical quality, professional integrity, and long-standing client relationships, offering a collaborative and people-focused working environment where senior engineers are trusted to take ownership and influence project outcomes.

The Role

This opportunity is well suited to an experienced Senior or Principal Civil Engineer who enjoys combining technical delivery, team leadership, and client engagement. You will play a key role in leading civil engineering projects, supporting junior engineers, and contributing to the continued growth and direction of the consultancy.

The role offers a balance of hands-on engineering and strategic involvement, making it ideal for someone looking to strengthen their position within senior consultancy leadership.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the delivery of civil engineering projects across multiple sectors

Provide technical leadership from feasibility through to completion

Manage, mentor, and develop small to medium-sized engineering teams

Act as a key technical and client-facing contact for projects

Oversee project programming, resourcing, and financial performance

Collaborate with architects, contractors, and statutory bodies

Ensure compliance with relevant standards, legislation, and best practice

Contribute to the ongoing growth, profile, and technical reputation of the consultancyAbout You

Degree-qualified in Civil Engineering or a related discipline

Chartered Engineer status (ICE or equivalent)

Strong background within a UK civil engineering consultancy environment

Proven experience leading projects and managing teams

Solid technical expertise in infrastructure, drainage, and highways design

Commercially aware with confidence in client-facing responsibilities

Comfortable operating at a senior level within a multidisciplinary setting
