The role offers hybrid working, combining office-based collaboration with home working flexibility.This is an excellent opportunity to join a consultancy recognised for delivering high-quality, sustainable and resilient transport solutions, combining global expertise with strong local delivery. You will be part of a well-established and supportive team working on a broad range of development-led and public-sector transport planning projects across the North of England.The RoleThe successful candidate will play a key role in delivering development-related transport planning advice, supporting planning applications and infrastructure-led growth across a diverse client base.Projects typically involve working for housing and commercial developers, local authorities, highway authorities, architects, planners and other professional advisors.Key ResponsibilitiesPreparation of Transport Assessments, Transport Statements and Travel PlansAuthoring transport chapters for Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs)Producing a range of development-related transport reports to support planning submissionsCollecting, analysing and interpreting transport dataApplying highway design principles to support site access and layout designUndertaking site visits and attending client, stakeholder and authority meetingsMentoring and supporting junior members of the transport planning teamAssisting with client liaison and work-winning, including preparing fee proposalsStaying up to date with current guidance, standards and best practice within transport planningFull day-to-day support will be provided by experienced transport planning professionals, alongside clear opportunities for progression.Skills & ExperienceWe are seeking a motivated and versatile individual with several years' experience in UK transport planning consultancy, ideally including:Proven experience producing Transport Assessments and Travel PlansStrong analytical skills with experience collating and interpreting dataKnowledge of highway design principles relevant to development accessWorking knowledge of AutoCAD and GIS softwareExperience using industry-standard tools such as TRICS, TEMPro, Junctions, LinSig and TRANSYTStrong report-writing skills with proficiency in Microsoft Word and ExcelA good understanding of the UK planning processSome experience developing and maintaining client relationships would be advantageousPersonal AttributesProactive, driven and keen to progress within transport consultancyConfident communicator, comfortable liaising with clients and multidisciplinary teamsMethodical approach with strong attention to detailAbility to produce clear, concise and well-structured technical outputsCollaborative mindset and enthusiasm for team-based project deliveryQualifications (Preferred)Degree or Master's in Transport Planning, Civil Engineering, Geography or a related disciplineProgress toward or achievement of professional accreditation (e.g. CIHT, CILT, TPP, ICE)What's on OfferCompetitive salary and comprehensive benefits packageHybrid and flexible working options (including reduced or compressed hours)Supportive, collaborative and inclusive working cultureExposure to a wide range of high-profile development and infrastructure projectsStrong commitment to professional development, innovation and long-term career progressionImportant Information: We endeavour to process your personal data in a fair and transparent manner.
