What you’ll be doing

As a Senior Technical Building Consultant for NHBC, you will oversee the technical risk management of complex new build and conversion projects by conducting comprehensive risk assessments and developing bespoke risk management plans tailored to each project’s needs.

You will manage review design checks, support site inspections, and provide expert technical advice to mitigate potential building failures. Drive business growth by promoting NHBC objectives, managing customer relationships, and resolving conflicts.

• Manage and coordinate the input of specialists in the TRM project team when acting as Project Manager on warranty-only projects.
• Check and/or oversee the checking of design details to ensure compliance with NHBC Standards, codes, European standards, and Building Regulations.
• Assess holistic technical risks and identify failure points based on design, data analysis, and building failure knowledge.
• Provide expert advice on NHBC Standards, building technology, and Building Regulations to builders, consultants, and NHBC.

What we’re looking for

• Ability to identify potential failure points in building designs and knowledge of mitigation opportunities.
• Understanding of building pathology and defect identification with problem-solving skills.
• Excellent customer-facing skills and the ability to handle difficult situations.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant software.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, planning, and organizational skills.
• Chartered membership of a relevant professional institution or working towards it.
• Relevant degree, HND/HNC, or substantial industry experience.
