The Opportunity
We are seeking Senior Systems Engineers to take a leading role in the design and delivery of innovative systems across Position, Navigation & Timing (PNT), RF communications and advanced sensing technologies.
You will take ownership of system designs for cutting‑edge defence electronics and robust PNT solutions. Typical areas of work include:
Communication and RF systems Radar and ground-search systems GNSS anti‑jam and anti‑spoof solutions Directional antenna systems eLORAN and alternative navigation technologiesThis role suits someone who enjoys working closely with defence users, applying deep technical knowledge, and communicating effectively with stakeholders at all levels. You'll operate in a technically challenging but highly rewarding environment, making informed technical decisions and guiding engineering trade‑offs.
Key Responsibilities
As a Senior Systems Engineer, you may:
Build a strong understanding of existing electronic warfare (EW) and navigation systems and future development plans. Act as a System Design Authority across the full engineering lifecycle - from early R&D concepts to product delivery and support. Provide leadership and systems expertise across research, solution development, equipment trials, and competitive bid activity. Support customer relationships and help shape future programmes through technical insight. Offer technical assurance across a wide range of internal or customer-facing projects. Engage regularly with project teams and customers to ensure delivery to time, cost, and quality. Work flexibly across customer sites, offices, shared workspaces, or from home as required. Contribute to rapid prototyping for urgent operational requirements (UORs).
Essential Skills & Experience
BEng/BSc or Master's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field. Strong knowledge of sensor and communication systems. Proven Systems Engineering experience across the full lifecycle, from concept through to delivery. Experience leading cross‑functional technical teams.
Desirable Experience
Knowledge of PNT systems (e.g., Resilient or Alternative PNT). Familiarity with Electronic Warfare (EA, ES, ECM, ESM, RF cyber, radio bearers). Experience with defence standards such as PNT OS, MOSA, or ASPN. Understanding of hardware, firmware, and software including DSP systems, FPGAs, SDRs, RF systems, and antennas. Experience with development methodologies such as Waterfall, Agile, SAFe, or Spiral models. Ability to identify and manage technical risks through structured RAID/RAIDO processes.

Due to the nature of the work, this role requires SC (Security Check) clearance. Therefore, candidates must be UK Nationals and have at least 5 years of continuous residency in the UK
