Company Overview

Fire Protection BIM is a fast‑growing and forward‑thinking sprinkler design company supporting multiple top‑tier fire protection contractors across the UK. As we continue to expand, we are seeking an experienced Senior Sprinkler Design Manager that will lead the team towards continued development, performance and towards excellence.

This is a unique opportunity to join a company where innovation, quality, and team culture are at the core of what we do.

Role Overview

As the Senior Sprinkler Design Manager, you will be responsible for leading, mentoring, and developing a multi‑disciplinary sprinkler design team working across Revit, Navisworks, AutoCAD, and related fire protection design software. You will oversee project execution, ensure compliance with standards, manage workloads, and support both the technical and professional growth of designers.

A critical part of this role is project estimation, including evaluating project scope, design hours, team allocation, and technical requirements (Revit modelling, annotation, sheeting, hydraulic calculations, clash detection, etc.).

This is a fully remote position, with occasional in‑person meet‑ups for collaboration, workshops, and team development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, manage, and develop the sprinkler design team, ensuring high performance and continuous improvement.
  • Oversee project allocation, workload planning, and team structure.
  • Conduct performance reviews, technical assessments, and mentoring sessions.
  • Foster a positive, collaborative, and accountable team culture.

Design & Technical Oversight

  • Oversee high‑quality fire sprinkler system designs using Revit, Navisworks, AutoCAD, and other BIM tools.
  • Ensure all design work complies with fire protection standards (BSEN 12845, NFPA, FM Global, LPCB).
  • Review and approve design documentation, models, drawings, and calculations.
  • Implement quality control processes for accuracy, consistency, and compliance.
  • Prepare project estimates for design scope, resources, and timelines.
  • Work closely with project managers, architects, consultants, and contractors.
  • Communicate clearly with clients, providing updates, technical clarification, and professional support.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and ensure smooth information flow within the team and broader business.
  • Drive implementation of best practices, new workflows, and improved processes.
  • Stay updated on fire protection trends, software developments, and industry standards.
  • Develop internal training programs to elevate team capability and consistency.

Assess project complexity in terms of:

  • Annotation & sheet production
  • Hydraulic calculations
  • Clash detection and coordination

Qualifications

  • Extensive experience designing and managing fire sprinkler projects using Revit, Navisworks, AutoCAD, and BIM workflows.
  • Strong knowledge of BSEN 12845, NFPA, FM Global, and LPCB requirements.
  • Proven team management or leadership experience within a fire protection design environment.
  • Proficiency in hydraulic calculations, pipe sizing, and system performance analysis.
  • Experience preparing design estimates and understanding project scope, resourcing, and timelines.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and leadership skills.
  • Additional qualifications such as LPCB design certificates are highly advantageous.
  • Knowledge of fire alarm and gas suppression systems is a plus.

Ideal Candidate

  • 5+ years of experience in fire sprinkler system design, including Revit.
  • Demonstrated experience managing or mentoring design teams.
  • Strong ability to plan workloads, manage deadlines, and maintain high‑quality design output.
  • Skilled in estimating project design effort and advising on design strategy.
  • Highly organized, proactive, and confident making leadership decisions.
  • A positive, collaborative professional who supports and uplifts team members.

Salary & Benefits

  • Salary: £60,000 – £80,000 per annum (dependent on experience).
  • Flexible Working: Fully remote role with occasional team meet‑ups.
  • Career Growth: Opportunities to shape the design department and influence company direction.
