Hyper SQ is recruiting for a talented Back End Engineer to join an exciting, fast-paced team.

You will join a growing, multi-disciplinary team that encourages innovation and contribution from everyone. Here you will use the latest technology to produce scalable services, helping to solve complex problems that will have a real impact on Hyper SQs users and the success of the business.

What youll be doing

1. You will be working within an Agile software development team with some of the latest tech including AWS ECS/EKS, DynamoDB, Lambda, Opensearch and SNS, creating services that power our revolutionary web and native mobile applications.
2. Drive Back End development and contribute heavily towards architectural decisions
3. Advocate best practices including test coverage and automation
4. Design reviews and code reviews
5. Active involvement in refinement and planning sessions
6. Working well in a team context adapting to and influencing team practices
7. Optimise applications for speed and scalability

Skills & requirements

1. Proven track record building online services and APIs, having built and scaled end-to-end mobile/web applications
2. Familiar with principles such as SOLID, TDD, YAGNI and KISS even better if you practise most of them
3. Experienced with SQL and NoSQL database development
4. Experience working with cloud technologies such as AWS or Azure
5. Comfortable following best practices (CI, Docker Containerization, Automated testing)

1. DevOps strategies such as IaC and automated pipelines e.g. Jenkins, TeamCity etc.
2. Experience with geolocation and mapping technologies
3. A passion for travel or exploring!

What you can expect from our recruitment process

1. A quick response with helpful feedback at all stages
2. Check-in call with our Head of Talent
3. 45 minute introductory video call with VP Engineering
4. 90 minute video call including a coding exercise that will take approximately 60 minutes. You will be asked to share your screen as you design code to meet some fun challenges
5. 30 minute video conversation with other members of the leadership team
