This part-time (0.2 FTE) role is available on a fixed-term basis from 1 September 2025 until 31 December 2025.
This position will be based remotely in the UK, across NHS based trial sites.
The post
The Faculty wishes to recruit a Senior Research Fellow to act as Lead Therapist on the MORE-KARE trial; a multi-centre investigation of increasing alcohol abstinence with ketamine-assisted psychological therapy in severe alcohol use disorder. The MORE-KARE trial is Sponsored by the University of Exeter and managed by the UKCRC-Registered Exeter Clinical Trials Unit, co-funded by the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) and Awakn Life Sciences Corp. The present post is available from 01/09/2025 to 31/12/2025. The successful applicant will be employed, primarily, to provide clinical supervision and support for assistant psychologists working on the MORE-KARE trial.
The post will include the recruitment, training and supervision of assistant psychologists delivering manualised psychological support on the MORE-KARE trial, including review of live session material. The post holder will also contribute to team and trial management meetings and Patient and Public Involvement (PPI) activity. This post will report to the scientific lead on the trial, Professor Celia Morgan.
About you
Applicants will be able to contribute to the development of research strategies; participate in the overall management of the College in areas such as strategic planning, budget management and business planning; plan and deliver research, consultancy or similar programmes and actively seek and secure research funding.
The successful applicant will possess a relevant PhD or equivalent qualification/experience in a related field of study and will be a nationally recognised authority in ketamine assisted therapy and possess in-depth understanding of psychopharmacology to enable the development of new knowledge and understanding within the field. In addition, the successful applicant will provide academic leadership to research teams, lead and develop internal and external networks and develop links with external contacts in order to foster collaboration and generate income. Applicants will be able to work collaboratively, supervise the work of others and act as a team leader as required.
The role will include:
1. Contributing to the successful delivery of the MORE-KARE trial through clinical supervision and leadership including:
- Providing training and clinical supervision to assistant psychologists in line with trial supervision and training plans.
- Documenting supervision activity in accordance with trial requirements.
- Maintaining clinical oversight of psychological support session delivery.
- Utilising own supervision with lead Clinical Psychologist to inform and enhance supervisory practice.
2. Supporting research delivery and trial governance including:
- Attending and contributing to team and Trial Management Group meetings.
- Maintaining up to date Good Clinical Practice (GCP) training and adhering to relevant research governance standards.
- Contributing to the development and refinement of study materials where appropriate.
3. Supporting Patient and Public Involvement (PPI) activity including:
- Working collaboratively with the PPI Lead and wider PPI group to help ensure the perspectives of people with lived experience are meaningfully integrated into trial design and delivery.
4. Acting as part of the broader research team, including:
- Supervising and supporting less experienced colleagues within the research team.
- Developing effective working relationships across clinical and research stakeholders involved in the trial.
Contributing to the discussion and dissemination of information through meetings, reports, and potentially academic presentations or publications.

The salary for this remote 0.2 FTE post is from £51,039 per annum pro rata on grade G, subject to knowledge, skills and experience.
