GEDON Executive is seeking a highly experienced and commercially astute Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a prominent and expanding consultancy firm in Central Birmingham, UK. This is a pivotal role for an individual passionate about delivering exceptional client outcomes and contributing to the growth of a dynamic, client-facing environment.
As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you'll be instrumental in leading projects, managing client relationships, and providing expert cost advice and commercial management across a diverse portfolio of projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Leadership: Lead the commercial management of complex construction projects across various sectors from inception to completion, ensuring client objectives are met.
- Client Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, acting as a trusted advisor.
- Cost Management: Prepare and manage detailed cost plans, feasibility studies, value engineering exercises, and whole-life costing.
- Contract Administration: Oversee procurement strategies, tender documentation, contract negotiation, and robust post-contract cost control, including valuations and final accounts.
- Team Mentorship: Potentially mentor and develop junior Quantity Surveyors, contributing to their professional growth.
- Reporting: Deliver comprehensive and insightful commercial reports and presentations to clients and internal stakeholders.
- Risk & Value: Proactively identify and manage commercial risks and opportunities throughout the project lifecycle.
What You'll Bring
- Extensive Experience: Proven track record as a Senior Quantity Surveyor within a construction consultancy in the UK.
- MRICS Accreditation: MRICS chartership is highly desirable; consideration will be given to candidates nearing completion or with equivalent professional standing.
- Sector Diversity: Experience across a range of building sectors (e.g., commercial, residential, education, healthcare, public sector).
- Commercial Acumen: Exceptional commercial awareness, strategic thinking, and strong negotiation skills.
- Leadership Potential: Demonstrated ability to lead projects, manage client relationships, and potentially mentor team members.
- Communication: Superior verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly and persuasively.
- Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with meticulous attention to financial detail.
- Qualifications: A relevant degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics, or a related field.
