Astute's Renewables team is partnering with a well-established energy and engineering organisation who are looking to recruit an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to play a key role in supporting project delivery teams, ensuring strong commercial governance, contractual compliance, and profitable project outcomes across multiple sites in Scotland.

The strategically important Senior Quantity Surveyor role offers a salary of £70,000-£80,000, depending on experience, alongside a company vehicle, benefits platform, high street discounts, gym savings, enhanced pension, and life cover.

Responsibilities and duties of the Senior Quantity Surveyor role

Reporting to the Commercial Manager, you will:

Take ownership of all commercial and contractual matters across assigned projects Lead the negotiation, preparation, and agreement of variations with clients and supply chain partners Measure, value, and certify works completed on site with accuracy and transparency Prepare, submit, and agree monthly applications for payment Support tendering activity, cost planning, and bid submissions where required Track design development and ensure all commercial impacts are captured and agreed Review subcontractor payment applications and monitor commercial performance Report progress against programme and highlight risks and opportunities Maintain robust budget control and produce cost-to-completion forecasts Issue and manage Early Warning Notices (EWNs) in line with contract requirements Provide commercial and contractual guidance to Project Managers Work closely with Finance, Procurement, and Legal teams to review and administer sub-contracts

Professional qualifications

We are looking for someone with the following:

Degree qualification in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or a related discipline Minimum 10 years' experience in a senior or project quantity surveying role Background within Utilities, Civil Engineering, M&E, Energy, or Oil & Gas environments Strong working knowledge of standard forms of contract, including NEC, JCT, and FIDIC Proven experience managing multiple stakeholders across complex projects
