Senior Quantity Surveyor

About the Company
A well-established and growing specialist contractor is seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join its commercial team. The business delivers complex civil engineering projects across the UK and Ireland, working with major utilities, contractors, and public sector clients.
The Role
This is a key commercial position responsible for managing the financial and contractual aspects of multiple live projects. You will work closely with operational teams to ensure effective cost control, accurate reporting, and strong commercial performance across the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
Commercial Management
* Preparation and management of budgets, cost plans, and cash flow forecasts
* Overseeing valuations and applications for payment
* Ongoing cost control, identifying risks and opportunities
* Negotiation and agreement of interim and final accounts
* Production of CVRs and commercial reports
Contractual & Risk Management
* Administration of NEC, ICE, and similar contracts
* Management of early warnings, compensation events, and variations
* Supporting claims, extensions of time, and contractual correspondence
* Ensuring compliance with industry standards and internal procedures
Project Support
* Collaborating with project and site teams on cost tracking and delivery
* Supporting procurement, subcontractor management, and tender processes
* Assisting with pricing, BOQs, and tender submissions
* Attending project meetings and contributing to planning
Leadership
* Mentoring junior team members
* Promoting commercial awareness across project teams
* Supporting improvements to systems and processes
Skills & Experience
Essential
* Experience in quantity surveying within civil engineering, utilities, or infrastructure
* Strong background in heavy civils
* Experience managing commercial aspects of complex engineering projects
* Relevant degree (Quantity Surveying or similar)
Desirable
* Experience in specialist civils such as drilling or boring operations
* Chartered status (MRICS) or working towards
