Job Description
Role | Senior Planning Solicitor
Experience | 10+ years PQE
Based | Hybrid – with offices available in London or Cambridgeshire
Offer | £85,000 - £95,000 per annum
We are working with a major UK infrastructure organisation seeking an experienced Senior Planning Solicitor to join their in-house legal team, providing strategic legal advice on all planning and consenting matters relating to large-scale environmental and infrastructure projects.
This is a high-profile position offering the opportunity to work on nationally significant development projects, with a particular focus on Development Consent Orders (DCOs), statutory consents, and compulsory acquisition matters. The successful candidate will play a key role in enabling the delivery of critical assets across the region.
Key responsibilities:
Provide strategic legal advice on planning, consenting and environmental issues for major infrastructure projects. Lead and manage Development Consent Order (DCO) applications and related statutory processes. Advise on planning permissions, compulsory acquisition and environmental permitting. Liaise with external lawyers, regulators, and statutory bodies to ensure compliance and minimise legal risk. Deliver training and guidance to senior managers, ensuring consistent understanding of planning and consenting requirements.
The successful candidate:
Qualified Solicitor (England & Wales) with 10+ years’ PQE in planning and consenting work. Extensive experience in major infrastructure and DCO processes. Excellent drafting, advocacy and communication skills. Commercially aware, pragmatic and solution-driven. Confident managing external advisers and influencing at senior levels.
This role would suit a senior planning lawyer looking to apply their expertise within a complex, forward-thinking infrastructure organisation.
