Job Description

Our Client is one of the largest independent Building Services & Sustainability Consultants in UK, operating from 9 regional offices and employing circa 150 staff.\n\nWith a Leeds office now established and enjoying their second year, the newly appointed MEP Regional Director is keen to build on recent success and create one of the leading Mechnaical and Electrical Design Teams in the Yorkshire region. The business is keen to attract 2 x Senior MEP Design Engineers – 1 Mechanical bias and 1 Electrical bias. Both roles will involve delivering high-quality mechanical, electrical and public health engineering designs across a varied portfolio of projects, while supporting project coordination, mentoring junior staff, and contributing to a collaborative, multi-disciplinary team.

This position is ideal for a well-rounded building services engineer looking to take increased technical and project responsibility within a respected UK consultancy.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nMEP Design & Technical Delivery\n\n * Deliver coordinated MEP designs from concept through to construction and handover\n\n * Prepare and review calculations, drawings, specifications, reports, and schedules\n\n * Ensure compliance with current UK legislation, standards, and best practice\n\n * Coordinate designs with internal disciplines and external consultants\n\n * Contribute to sustainable, energy-efficient, and low-carbon design solutions\n\nProject Delivery\n\n * Act as the MEP lead on small to medium-sized projects and support larger schemes\n\n * Manage personal workload to meet project programmes and targets\n\n * Attend design team meetings, client meetings, and site inspections\n\n * Support technical responses to contractor queries during construction\n\nMentoring & Team Support\n\n * Support and mentor Graduate and Engineer-level staff\n\n * Review technical outputs and provide guidance to junior team members\n\n * Contribute to continuous improvement and knowledge sharing within the team\n\nClient & Stakeholder Engagement\n\n * Liaise effectively with clients, architects, contractors, and other stakeholders\n\n * Build and maintain positive working relationships across project teams\n\nSkills & Experience\n\nEssential\n\n * Degree-qualified (or equivalent) in Building Services, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering\n\n * Strong experience within an MEP/building services design environment\n\n * Good all-round knowledge of mechanical and/or electrical building services systems\n\n * Understanding of UK building regulations and relevant British Standards\n\n * Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team\n\n * Strong communication and organisational skills\n\nDesirable\n\n * Working towards or holding professional registration (IEng or CEng – CIBSE, IET, or equivalent)\n\n * Experience across sectors such as commercial, residential, healthcare, education, or mixed-use\n\n * Awareness of sustainability frameworks and low-carbon design approaches\n\nWhat’s on offer\n\n * Opportunity to work on a diverse range of high-quality projects\n\n * Supportive, collaborative, and people-focused culture\n\n * Clear career development and progression opportunities\n\n * Competitive salary and benefits package\n\n * Flexible and hybrid working arrangements (role dependent)
