Role Overview:


We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their experienced team. You will be responsible for the design, development, and testing of electro-mechanical products, ensuring the highest standards of quality and performance. This role also involves mentoring junior engineers, supporting production improvements, and contributing to ongoing product innovation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and test electro-mechanical products

  • Prepare technical reports, product specifications, and documentation

  • Perform fault analysis and technical investigations

  • Supervise and support junior engineers

  • Implement design changes for cost reduction, obsolescence, and production improvements

  • Support verification activities, including environmental testing

  • Produce detailed drawings to BS 8888 standards and manage revisions

  • Create 3D designs using SolidWorks and conduct design reviews

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or related field

  • Minimum 5 years experience as a mechanical design engineer

  • Proficient in SolidWorks (3D CAD)

  • Strong knowledge of common manufacturing processes (injection moulding, CNC milling)

  • Experience with project/task management and technical problem-solving

  • Competent in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)

  • Strong time-management skills and ability to lead multiple projects

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

  • Experience interfacing with customers and suppliers

Desirable Skills:

  • SolidWorks PDM experience

  • MRP knowledge

  • Project leadership or management experience

  • Familiarity with IEC/MIL/DO-160 standards

  • Experience with environmental testing for marine or aerospace applications
