Senior Mechanical Engineer – Rotating Equipment / Energy Projects
We are working with a leading international engineering consultancy, recognised for its technical expertise in delivering major power and energy transition projects across the UK and Europe. With a growing portfolio in thermal, renewable and low-carbon infrastructure, their Stockport office is seeking to appoint a Senior Mechanical Engineer with strong rotating plant experience to strengthen their delivery capability.
This is a key senior hire for an engineer who wants to take real ownership on complex, high-value energy projects while operating within a highly specialised, consultancy environment.
The Role – Senior Mechanical Engineer (Rotating Plant)
You will act as a technical authority on rotating machinery, providing engineering assurance across concept, design, procurement and commissioning phases.
Your core responsibilities will include:
* Leading mechanical design input for turbines, compressors, pumps and auxiliary systems
* Reviewing OEM specifications, P&IDs, datasheets and supplier proposals
* Delivering technical due diligence, feasibility studies and performance assessments
* Interfacing directly with clients, OEMs and EPC contractors
* Providing engineering leadership within multi-disciplinary project teams
* Supporting and mentoring junior engineers, contributing to technical development
What You’ll Bring
To be successful, you should have:
* Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related discipline)
* Minimum 10 years’ experience within power , energy, process or heavy industry
* Strong technical background in rotating equipment and balance-of-plant systems
* Experience in consultancy, Owner’s Engineer or EPC project environments
* Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage clients and influence outcomes
Desirable Credentials:
* Chartered status (or working towards)
* Experience in CCGT, CHP, biomass, waste-to-energy or industrial energy assets
* Exposure to advisory, lender’s technical due diligence or owner’s engineering roles
