Requirements
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Information Governance (SIG) Officer to join a forward-thinking public sector team. You will play a key role in supporting the development and implementation of the organisation's Information Governance (IG) strategy while ensuring compliance with statutory requirements such as:
- Data Protection Act 2018
- UK-GDPR
- Freedom of Information Act 2000
- Environmental Information Regulations 2004
- Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations
- Deliver high-quality advice on IG and Data Protection matters across the organisation and partner authorities
- Deputise for the Data Protection Officer as required
- Manage IG assessments, audits, and privacy risk evaluations
- Lead on the development of Records of Processing Activities (RoPAs) for all service areas
- Create and implement IG standards, processes, and best practices
- Provide guidance to Information Asset Owners and Data Protection Champions
- Handle complex IG matters, including data breaches and complaints
- Law degree or equivalent qualification in GDPR (essential)
- Strong knowledge of UK data protection and FOI legislation
- Experience within a public sector IG function
- Skilled in managing DPIAs, RoPAs, and compliance audits
- Excellent communication and influencing skills
- Ability to work across services with a proactive and collaborative approach
