Our customers are super passionate about our product.LocationRemote, United KingdomRoleAs a Senior Full Stack Engineer on the DISCO team, you will lead the design and implementation of robust and scalable architecture, build comprehensive and secure APIs, and find elegant solutions to complex problems. Ultimately, you will have a huge impact on the architecture, design and technology stack of our application.The ideal candidate will employ strategic thinking, collaborate with cross-functional teams and possess advanced knowledge of software engineering principles. We’re not heavy on rule books, at DISCO you will be trusted to work in the way that works best for you.ResponsibilitiesWork with cross-functional teams to develop and implement new, scalable features that meet the needs of DISCO and our customersHelp translate product specs and business requirements into buildable tasks for the development teamEnsure application security and assist with information security compliance initiativesLead incident response in a production environmentCover on-call rotation during UK business hoursChampion initiatives to address existing technical debt and ensure new code avoids it wherever possibleWrite clean, scalable, high-quality code, with unit tests and integration testsReview and constructively critique pull requestsContribute to deployment processes and the developer experienceInfluence the engineering team to adopt best practices and design scalable applicationsHelp more junior engineers grow in the business through mentoring, technical coaching and collaborative learning.Requirements7+ years of hands on engineering experience across front end and back endDemonstrated expertise with Python and Django, including the Django REST FrameworkDemonstrated expertise in applying shift left security principlesExpertise in designing and developing RESTful APIsProficient with React.js and Next.jsExperience working with modern design systems and front end toolingAvailable to work three 2 hour blocks per fortnight outside of UK business hours to support collaboration with the team in Australia, with flexible time in lieu providedFluent in written and spoken EnglishNice to havesBachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science or comparable knowledge and experienceExperience responding effectively to production issues of a heavily used applicationExperience working with relational databases, we use PostgreSQLExperience developing for cloud platforms like AWS, GCP and AzureExperience with Infrastructure as Code, especially TerraformExperience with OpenSearch or other search solutionsExperience in DevOps and site reliabilityExperience in a startup businessExperience working in a remote development teamBenefitsAt DISCO, our employees have told us what benefits mean the most to them, and we’ve listened.
