Gifford and Partners have been asked to appoint a key role in a fast-growth and dynamic business based in Leeds in the capacity of Senior Financial Controls Specialist. As a result of global growth, my client is investing further in its internal controls environment, and the Senior Financial Controls Specialist will be a high-visibility role. This is not a tick-box internal audit or SOX testing position. Instead, you'll sit at the heart of the business working closely with finance teams, control owners and auditors to identify where controls need strengthening, help design practical solutions, and add real value as the organisation continues to scale.
Why this role?
Less testing, more judgment and influencing
The chance to fix issues, not just report on them
Strong exposure to senior stakeholders and global teams
A genuinely relationship-led, advisory remit
Clear visibility and impact across the business
What you'll be doing:
Strengthening and enhancing the internal controls and SOX framework
Identifying control gaps and working with stakeholders to resolve them
Performing targeted, risk-based testing where it adds value
Partnering with external auditors and global SOX teams
Spotting opportunities to improve, simplify and future-proof controls
About you:
Likely a background in audit (Big 4 / Top 10) or financial controls / SOX
Strong understanding of internal controls and risk
Confident working with and influencing senior stakeholders
Pragmatic, commercial and improvement-focused
Professional qualification (ACA / ACCA / CIMA) is beneficial but not essential.
In summary:
A smarter first move into industry with a chance to add value in a high-impact, high-visibility role.
A change-hungry business that is constantly evolving with new challenges and new boundaries always being pushed whilst using the latest and up-to-date tech to support the journey with continuous investment and a moral compass that puts its people front and centre of everything they do.
A chance to build a long-term career, not just take a sideways step
Please get in touch and discover more about this fantastic role, offering a work-life balance in a warm and friendly team and environment that is second to none and that truly puts its people first.
