Job Description

Financial Accountant | Series A Fintech | London / Hybrid

The Client

Harmonic is partnering with a Series A fintech that has built a proprietary payments and card platform, now powering co-branded programmes for some of the biggest names in travel and hospitality.

Named on the Financial Times’ 2026 Fast Growth list, the business has moved well beyond its initial consumer product to become a scalable B2B2C platform, signing major enterprise partnerships and expanding internationally. Backed by strong investors and operating in an FCA-regulated environment, they’re at the stage where finance infrastructure needs to keep pace with commercial momentum.

This is a small, lean team that punches well above its weight, heavily leveraging AI and automation across the finance function. If you want broad exposure in a business that’s scaling fast and doing finance differently, this is worth a closer look.

The Role

You'll be working closely with the Finance Manager, reporting into the Finance Director, this is a hands-on Financial Accountant role sitting within a combined Finance & Data Science team. You’ll own core financial operations (month-end, reconciliations, payments, supplier management), owning the Audit and month-end processes, while also getting meaningful exposure to FP&A, investor reporting, and commercial analysis that you simply wouldn’t get in a larger team.

The finance function here is tech-enabled and automation-first. You’ll be expected to improve processes, not just run them. The team works closely with data science on commercial and strategic analysis, so there’s genuine cross-functional exposure beyond traditional accounting.

The business is at the stage where finance infrastructure needs to mature quickly alongside commercial growth. They want someone technically strong - fully qualified, with an audit grounding - who is equally comfortable identifying process gaps and fixing them. If you have seen what good looks like in practice and want to own it somewhere it matters, this is a good fit.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the month-end close process end-to-end, including management accounts preparation, journal review, and reconciliations.
  • Own supplier invoice reconciliations, cost allocations, and daily FX settlements.
  • Manage the annual audit process, acting as the primary finance contact for auditors and coordinating all supporting documentation.
  • Prepare monthly financial and operational reporting for investors and senior leadership.
  • Own year-end statutory accounts, corporation tax, quarterly VAT returns, and other statutory submissions.
  • Lead annual budgeting, cashflow forecasting, and cash management.
  • Manage the relationship with outsourced bookkeepers.
  • Business partner with teams across the business on P&L reviews, cost savings, and optimisation initiatives.
  • Identify and lead process improvement initiatives across the finance function as the business scales.

Essential Experience

  • Fully qualified accountant (ACA or ACCA).
  • Audit background: either trained in practice or has owned or managed an audit process within a start-up or scale-up environment.
  • Strong technical accounting skills across financial control, reconciliations, and statutory reporting.
  • Comfortable working in a lean, high-growth environment where processes are still being built and improved.
  • Proactive and structured, able to manage multiple workstreams independently.

Desirable Experience

  • Experience with multi-entity group structures.
  • IFRS reporting experience.
  • Exposure to FCA-regulated environments or fintech/payments
  • Previous experience in a start-up or scale-up environment.
