Senior Finance Business Partner - Wholesale Trade

Overview of the role
As the Senior Finance Business Partner you will support commercial trading within the wholesale area of the business. Partnering with senior business leaders to create and manage business plans and budgets across multiple departments and forecast future needs using a long‑term planning process to make informed decisions that improve company performance. You will work with the Director of Commercial Finance to oversee the organisation's long‑term financial health, challenging and influencing stakeholders to drive decisions based on financial insights.
Main Responsibility
Overview
Partnering with Head of Sales and Heads of Categories to provide analysis, reporting, and helping understand the financial impact of business decisions.
Supporting lead buyers to manage supplier reporting, stock availability, margin delivery and overrider/rebate targets are achieved with our core suppliers.
Working closely with the Senior Finance Business Partner for Wholesale Operations to ensure a consistent and coordinated level of financial support for the entire Wholesale team.
Budgeting and forecasting
Build out the annual budgets and ensure actuals are tracked at right level for the newly acquired businesses to support ongoing variance analysis and business insights.
Deliver accurate and timely forecasts in partnership with the senior team and in line with group requirements.
Work with stakeholders to anticipate financial risks and opportunities and advise on mitigations before issues arise.
Reporting and trade analysis
Deliver accurate, transparent and timely insights on weekly, monthly basis to drive business performance to maximum possibility.
Create the right data sets and analysis around the portfolio of products so we can analyse the individual models and their future potential.
Create market driven insights to help shape discussion on performance relative to the market and key competition.
Ensure working capital balances are controlled to meet the business targets - notably debtors, creditors and stock holding need to be managed cognisant of their commercial impact on ongoing trade
Protect the group from surprises and shocks to the finances by effective planning and three statement insight.
Strategic/Corporate
Identify and highlight growth opportunities. Support the business in accessing them and driving into realised profits focusing on the main strategic projects as identified by the Exec
Consider investments via payback (ROI and other mechanisms) creating proper measurable benefits and project analysis.
Ensure tasks which support our license to trade are properly completed (audit, MHRA analysis, customer insights etc).
The Ideal Candidate
Qualified Accountant (CIMA / ACCA / ACA). 2-3 years PQE.
Understand and be able to lead the business through complex financial concepts and accounting
Strong analytical skills and ability to manipulate and create insights and so what's on large sets of data - experience with Power BI, excel and other analytical tools.
