Our client, a respected accountancy practice based in Sherborne, is seeking a Senior Finance Assistant to join their dedicated team. This is a fantastic opportunity to work across a diverse portfolio of entities, including those in the financial consultancy and property sectors, supporting their accounting and compliance needs.

\nAbout the Role

\n\n

As a Senior Finance Assistant, you will be responsible for:

\n\n
    \n\t
  • Managing day-to-day bookkeeping and accounting through to management accounts and financial statements
  • \n\t
  • Supporting audits and ensuring accurate financial records across multiple entities
  • \n\t
  • Preparing VAT returns and maintaining fixed asset registers and control accounts
  • \n\t
  • Administering payment runs and performing bank reconciliations
  • \n\t
  • Producing management accounts and statutory accounts for internal and external review
  • \n\t
  • Generating financial reports including budget vs actual summaries and profit forecasts
  • \n\t
  • Providing cover for colleagues during holidays or absences
  • \n\t
  • Reporting to the Team Leader or Deputy Head of Office
  • \n

\nWhat We're Looking For

\n\n

We're seeking a candidate who:

\n\n
    \n\t
  • Is AAT Level 4 qualified with at least five years of relevant experience, ideally within an accountancy practice
  • \n\t
  • Has strong knowledge of VAT and experience handling VAT-related transactions
  • \n\t
  • Demonstrates excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage high volumes of information
  • \n\t
  • Is discreet, trustworthy, and capable of handling confidential matters
  • \n\t
  • Possesses strong communication and administrative skills
  • \n\t
  • Is IT proficient, particularly with Microsoft Office and accounting software
  • \n\t
  • Is proactive, adaptable, and a collaborative team player
  • \n
\n\n


\nPlease note:
\nThis is an office-based role and candidates must be located within a commutable distance to Sherborne.
