As Senior Environmental & Sustainability Manager, you’ll come in right at the start, helping to influence how the programme is designed, consented and ultimately delivered on site.

You’ll play a pivotal role in setting the environmental and sustainability direction before construction begins, working across planning, design and stakeholder engagement, then remaining embedded as projects move into delivery. What you’ll be doing:

Driving Early‑Stage Influence - Shape environmental and sustainability strategy at definition stage, setting solid foundations for future delivery across a £2bn programme. Leading DCO Compliance - Manage environmental requirements under DCO consents, ensuring conditions are clearly understood, embedded and met throughout project lifecycles. Overseeing Multiple Projects - Own environmental management across several projects, coordinating with individual project teams and providing consistent, expert leadership. Partnering with Regulators & Stakeholders - Build trusted relationships with the Environment Agency and other regulatory bodies, representing the programme with authority and credibility. Creating Fit‑for‑Purpose Processes - Establish and evolve environmental processes early, supporting seamless transition from planning and design through to construction and site delivery. Who they’re looking for:

Major Infrastructure Experience - A solid background delivering large‑scale infrastructure under DCOs. Broad Environmental Capability - Comfortable across all environmental topics, with a clear understanding of consent management and compliance obligations. Technical Specialism - A subject‑matter expert in one or more areas such as contaminated land, waste, materials, water management, ecology or biodiversity. Clear Communicator & Influencer - Confident engaging with project teams, senior stakeholders and regulators, from early planning through to on‑site delivery phases.
