Senior Ecologist / Biodiversity Manager

Midlands (Hybrid) | remit

Are you an experienced ecologist ready to move beyond project deadlines and mitigation-led outcomes — and into a role where you can champion nature recovery, ecological integrity, and long-term biodiversity gain at scale?

This senior role offers a rare opportunity to step away from day-to-day consultancy delivery and instead shape how biodiversity is embedded across a organisation. Your ecological expertise will inform strategy, influence policy, and support genuinely nature-positive decisions across land, planning, and infrastructure.

With a Midlands base and reach, you’ll help ensure biodiversity is not an afterthought — but a core driver of decision-making.

We’re Looking for an Ecologist With:

A degree in Ecology, Conservation, or a related discipline, and membership of a professional body Significant experience at Principal, Technical Lead, or Associate level in consultancy or a similar environment A strong understanding of UK biodiversity legislation, planning policy, and BNG — alongside its limitations The confidence to review and challenge ecological work to ensure high scientific and ethical standards The ability to communicate ecological value and risk clearly to non-ecologists A strategic mindset, with a genuine commitment to biodiversity outcomes over box-ticking A collaborative approach and experience working with senior stakeholders Flexibility to work nationally in a hybrid role
