Lead Design Manager - Data Centre (Confidential Project)

West London

Tier 1 Main Contractor | Major Infrastructure Programme

A leading Tier 1 contractor is seeking an experienced Lead Design Manager to join the team on a large, technically complex data centre development based in Buckinghamshire.

This is a key leadership role on a high-value, confidential project within the rapidly expanding data centre sector. You will be responsible for driving design excellence from pre-construction through to project delivery, working alongside top-tier consultants and specialist partners.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the end-to-end design management process across all project phases
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary design teams to ensure integration, compliance, and buildability
  • Manage the design programme, including risk, change control, and value engineering
  • Act as the main interface between client, consultants, and internal delivery teams
  • Ensure all design outputs meet technical, commercial, and operational requirements
  • Support procurement and contribute to technical reviews and subcontractor engagement

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience as a Lead or Senior Design Manager on large-scale construction projects
  • Strong background in data centres, mission-critical, or highly serviced environments
  • Experience working within a main contractor (Tier 1 preferred)
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to lead design teams in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
