About the role Kier has been appointed by Southern Water Services to their £3.1bn Strategic Development Partnership Framework for Asset Management Period 8 (AMP8). This exciting opportunity offers an initial seven-year term, with the option to extend for a further five years. You'll be working on projects that truly make a difference - increasing capacity at water supply and wastewater treatment sites, whilst improving water safety, quality, recycling, and resilience. Our work serves 2.5 million households and treats wastewater from over 4.7 million homes across a network spanning 53,470 km of pipelines. Responsibilities As a Senior Design Manager, you'll be working within the Design team, supporting them in delivering innovative engineering solutions across our portfolio. Your day to day will include:
Leading and managing engineering design delivery for assigned projects, ensuring quality and consistency across the portfolio Providing line management support to Design Managers, including professional development and mentoring opportunities Collaborating with engineering discipline leads and project teams to develop technically excellent and economically sound solutions Managing design quality procedures and engineering assurance processes from project definition through to handover Driving innovation and sustainable design practices that contribute to carbon reduction and environmental enhancement
Qualifications This role of Senior Design Manager is great for you if:
You hold Chartered Engineer status with a degree level qualification (or equivalent) in an engineering discipline You have proven experience in engineering design, construction and management within the water sector You're passionate about leading multi-disciplinary teams and creating an inclusive environment where everyone can thrive You have excellent communication skills and can translate complex technical concepts for diverse audiences You hold a full valid driving licence and are comfortable with occasional travel
