Senior Cost Manager
1 Days Old
At Morson Edge, we are proud to be supporting a major nuclear new build site in Suffolk with the appointment of a highly capable Senior Cost Manager to join their Central PMO function on a contingent basis (loan of personnel).
This is a pivotal opportunity to play a leading role on one of the UK's most significant infrastructure programmes, contributing to a centre of excellence in Project Controls and driving best-in-class cost performance across a complex mega-project environment.
The Opportunity
The Project Controls team operates as a strategic hub for delivery performance management, enabling informed decision-making and forward-looking performance improvement. As Senior Cost Manager, you will work closely with the Functional Cost Lead to deploy, embed and continuously enhance Cost Management standards, systems and governance across the programme.
You will provide independent oversight and assurance of the Cost Management framework, ensuring alignment with the project's governance structure, organisation and delivery model. A key focus of the role is championing a 'Digital by Default' approach, ensuring full and effective utilisation of cost systems, software applications and supporting infrastructure.
This role requires a confident, experienced cost professional who can operate with autonomy in a mega-project setting and engage credibly with stakeholders from delivery teams through to executive leadership and investor level.
Key Responsibilities
Support the Cost Lead in ensuring adherence to Cost Management procedures, guidelines and work instructions
Provide insightful analysis, reporting and "so what" commentary to enable informed decision-making
Deliver ad hoc presentations and executive-level reporting as required
Provide functional guidance and support to Programme teams
Act as first line of defence in assuring cost data submitted by Programme Delivery teams
Ensure cost systems are maintained and updated in line with project reporting cycles ("project drumbeat")
Act as first escalation point for Programme Cost Leads on business-as-usual matters
Drive continuous improvement within the Cost Management framework and embed best practice
Act as a key interface between Cost and other Project Controls functions, as well as wider stakeholders
Lead the advancement of the 'Digital by Default' strategy within Cost Management
Oversee the timely production and quality assurance of month-end cost data and performance reporting
Take responsibility for the accurate assessment of the Project Current Forecast, including approved changes and emerging trends
Deputise for the Cost Lead where required, including coordinating and chairing Cost Steering Committees
Lead and develop a high-performing team, supporting professional development and capability growth
About You
We are seeking a Senior Cost professional with demonstrable experience operating within the Cost Management function on large-scale, complex infrastructure or mega-projects.
You will bring:
In-depth knowledge of Cost Management principles, covering both Client-delivered and Supply Chain-delivered scope
Strong understanding of the wider Project Controls function and its integration points
Experience delivering assurance activities independently
A track record of producing high-quality narrative reports and presentations for multi-level stakeholders, from delivery teams to Boards and Investors
Experience working with Executive Leadership Teams
The confidence and capability to deputise for a Functional Lead when required
Proven people leadership skills, with experience developing and mentoring cost professionals
Why Apply?
This is a rare opportunity to influence cost strategy and performance on a nationally significant nuclear infrastructure programme, while working within a progressive and digitally focused Project Controls environment.
If you are a strategic thinker with strong technical cost expertise and the credibility to operate at senior leadership level, Morson Edge would welcome a confidential discussion with you.
