Role: Senior Claims Adjuster - Marine

Location: London


Purpose:

  • Manage and lead complex Marine (and related Energy) claims, delivering technical excellence, strong market engagement, and effective portfolio oversight.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Handle, adjust, and negotiate standard and complex marine claims (1st and 3rd party), including litigated matters.
  • Manage delegated and coverholder accounts, including bordereaux oversight.
  • Provide portfolio analysis, reserving input (IBNR/ultimates), and maintain watchlists and claim inventories.
  • Liaise with brokers, insureds, reinsurers, legal representatives, experts, and service providers.
  • Support underwriting and actuarial teams with claims data for renewals and reserving meetings.
  • Represent the business at broker meetings, renewal discussions, market events, and seminars.
  • Mentor junior team members and contribute to process and system improvements.


Skills & Experience:

  • Extensive marine claims adjusting experience (c.10+ years preferred).
  • Strong background in large, complex, and litigated marine liability claims; energy exposure advantageous.
  • Deep understanding of Lloyd’s/Managing Agency environment and regulatory standards.
  • Strong analytical, negotiation, and decision-making capability.
  • Confident communicator able to lead on complex market losses.
  • Highly organised, strategic thinker, able to manage competing priorities independently.
