About the role:

We are looking for a Senior Civil Engineer to join a growing design consultancy and provide technical design support to a range of clients in the UK, with ongoing work available and excellent development opportunities for the right individual.

As a Senior Civil Engineer, you will be working on a range of residential and commercial projects, from small-scale extensions through to large developments, and should be able to demonstrate experience in completing designs on projects in these sectors. Within the role of a Senior Civil Engineer, it will be essential for the chosen individual to complete accurate reports and designs, and your input and contribution to the team are viewed as essential in the continued development of the business.

The business offers services in their civil team that include foul and surface water drainage design, ground modelling and volumetrics, foundation design and highway design. These all support their other work in superstructure design, geo-environmental desk studies, surveys and risk assessments, intrusive geo-environmental investigation and reporting, and superstructure design - across steel, concrete, masonry and timber. As a result of their varying in-house skillset, they have gained a strong reputation for prompt delivery and attention to detail throughout their 40 years in business.

As part of your responsibilities as a Senior Civil Engineer, your guidance to more junior engineers and CAD technicians will be invaluable in supporting the business as the engineering department as a whole strives to provide continued excellent service to the company’s clients.

The civil team will undertake a range of civil engineering services from cut and full volumetrics, through to S38 Highway Design, S104 Sewer Design, and drainage/feasibility studies. Your work will include feasibility layouts, S38 agreement plans, and highway designs. In addition, there will be a range of drainage design requirements, in line with unadopted sewers and S102 and 104 considerations, submitting designs for approval to water authorities and S85 sewer diversion designs. All aspects of SuDS, including tanks, oversized pipes, soakaways, ponds, wetlands, cellular storage and rainfall run off management.

Involvement in projects will include work on private and domestic drainage, including pipe diameters, gradients and invert levels, preparation of detailed external works drawings for floor levels, flag levels, drive gradients, car park levels and fall, retaining structures, garden gradients and underbids to property. Developing this in conjunction with 3D models to compute cut and fill volumes, and the preparation of detailed 3D models based on site topographical surveys.

3D Modelling will include the creation of proposed site levels using existing site boundaries, 3D road and footpath string lines, and proposed floor and external works designs. Capping layers and contamination considerations will also be part of the role, as will creating drawings to show areas of cut/fill, proposed levels and contours and isopachtye contours.

About you:

Candidates should have a minimum of 5 years of experience working for UK-based design consultancies, and a background working on similar projects is desired in order to ensure a close match to the existing and upcoming workload.

In addition to having a confident, commercial and professional outlook, you should have:

* Degree in Civil Engineering

* Minimum of 5 years of UK-based experience

* Experience working with drainage design and flood risk assessments

* Strength in working to appropriate agreement sections - S38, S278, S104, S106

* Strong analytical, communication and technical design skills

* Excellent communication skills in both written and spoken English
