Job Title: Senior Category Buyer \n Location: Warwick (Hybrid/Flexible Working)\n Salary: £46,000 - £57,000 per annum (plus a performance-based bonus)\n Contract Type: Full-Time, Permanent\n\nAbout The Role\n\nWe are seeking an experienced Senior Category Buyer to lead procurement activities for multi-billion-pound HVDC projects within a built asset environment. This includes converters, transformers, marine HVDC cable, switchgear, and civil works. You will manage complex procurement packages, deliver category strategies, and ensure best-in-class sourcing for critical infrastructure projects that shape the future of energy.\n\nKey Responsibilities:\n\nStrategic Sourcing: Develop category strategies, make commercial recommendations, and execute sourcing strategies to ensure best-in-class procurement.\nStakeholder Engagement: Manage strategic sourcing events, working with stakeholders to understand and challenge demand for optimal commercial solutions.\nCategory Strategy Development: Support and deliver assigned category strategies, sharing best practices across teams.\nMarket Analysis: Research supply markets, assess trends, and provide insights to global teams.\nTender Management: Manage tender events to deliver value for key business products.\nContract Management: Ensure successful delivery of contracted activities, identifying improvement opportunities and maximising value.\nLeadership and Mentoring: Mentor Buyers and Associate Buyers, promoting excellence in procurement standards.\nForward Planning: Identify future requirements and ensure robust forecasting to maximise procurement value.Essential Skills & Experience\n\nProven experience in procurement for large-scale infrastructure projects (ideally power/utility, HVDC, or transferable sectors such as HS2, nuclear, rail).\nAbility to manage complex, high-value projects (£50M-£100M+).\nStrong knowledge of procurement processes, contract management, and supply chain engagement.\nExcellent stakeholder management, influencing, and communication skills.\nCIPS qualification or equivalent preferred.\nExperience in regulated/public sector environmentsDesirable\n\nKnowledge of HVDC systems and components.\nFamiliarity with engineering and construction procurement challenges.If you're ready to make a significant impact and advance your career in procurement, we want to hear from you!
