How You'll Make an Impact:
As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will implement new architectures, features, and best practices to scale the Cloudbeds platform. You will contribute to new efforts in service-oriented architectures, leveraging the latest, cutting edge technologies.
As a Senior Backend Engineer, your goal is to deliver an exceptional experience to our customers all around the world with quality, performance, and scalability top of mind. Alongside your team, you will leverage latest, modern SaaS and Amazon Web Services (AWS) technologies across all layers of the software stack.
Inventory Team:
As the backbone of Cloudbeds' Central Reservations tribe, the Inventory team owns the logic behind hotel rates and availability—core systems that power everything from group bookings to rate plans to occupancy insights. We thrive on solving foundational, high-impact challenges at scale, with a strong focus on reliability, performance, and thoughtful design. What You Bring to the Team:
As a member of the Inventory Team, you will play a key role in evolving Cloudbeds’ core architecture for hotel rates and availability
Help shape and lead technical discussions around complex systems and domain logic, working with both technical and non-technical stakeholders as a contributor to the backend architecture group
Write clean, well-tested, well-documented, and maintainable code
Contribute to the ongoing migration of our core platform toward a modern, microservices-based architecture
Work on and maintain legacy monolith code as part of our modernization journey
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, build, and deliver scalable, high-quality features
Champion engineering excellence by promoting best practices in code quality, architecture, and team processes
Be a self-started who can take initiative, work independently, and proactively identify opportunities for improvement
Use AI-assisted development tools as part of your daily workflow to increase productivity, accelerate problem-solving, and enhance code quality
What Sets You Up for Success:
5+ years of backend software engineering experience using object-oriented principles in PHP or Java
2+ years of experience with one or more modern frameworks or ecosystems (e.g., Laravel, Symfony, or similar)
A strong business sense and ability to collaborate with leadership and non-technical stakeholders on highly visible projects
Expert knowledge of relational, indexing, and searching technologies, especially MySQL
A passion for data-informed development, including metrics, experimentation, and rapid prototyping
Strong knowledge and passion for software architecture, design patterns, and testing practices
Experience working with complex data structures and/or inventory cache system is a strong plus
Business-level English fluency required (verbal and written)
Bonus Skills to Stand Out :
Experience designing and building microservices using PHP or Java
Experience with gRPC and protobuf
Experience with cloud-based infrastructure (Docker, Kubernetes, AWS)
Experience working with a remote-first and globally distributed team
